Based in Victoria, Deakin University is a diverse, multi-campus institution encompassing a network of six campuses that provide a variety of settings for productive study and a valuable exchange experience.
- Is the joint winner of the prestigious University of the Year award for 1999/2000. The only Australian University to receive this award twice, in 1995 Deakin won for "outstanding technology in education" and in 1999, Deakin was a joint winner for "outstanding education and training partnerships".

- Five diverse campuses: three in suburban Melbourne, one in semi-rural Geelong and one in rural Warrnambool.
Divisions
Arts (Australian studies, Asian and Middle Eastern languages, communications, contemporary arts, public relations); Business and Law (Commerce, International Trade, accounting, finance, marketing, management, electronic commerce, law); Education (primary, secondary, workplace, TESOL); Health and Behavioral Sciences (disability studies, psychology, nutrition, human movement and dietetics, nursing); Science and Technology (architecture, engineering, environmental management, computing, aqua culture and fisheries management, biological and chemical sciences).
Academic Notes
Offerings at an undergraduate and graduate levels include aquatic science, architecture, biology, chemistry, computing, disability studies, environmental management, fine art, information management, journalism, Asian and Middle Eastern languages, law, literature, management, mathematics, nutrition and psychology. Deakin emphasizes interdisciplinary studies, with courses developed by teams of academic experts. Unusual course offerings include Australian studies (including Aboriginal history and identity, Australian politics, popular culture, relations with Asia, cities and regions, urban studies, military history and environment), Police Studies, and units focusing on Australian ecology and environment. Students should select the campus they wish to study at based on availability of units.
Exchange Dates
Mid-February to early July or mid-July to November.
Special Conditions
Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 to apply for Exchange. Exchange students do not have access to Professional Writing units. Students applying for Media Arts units will be required to submit specified assessment tasks.
