- Only preliminary advising from the SDSU Education Abroad Office
- Transfer credit
- Generally higher cost than SDSU exchanges
- Some scholarships are available
- Many locations
- Often lower language requirements

In addition to SDSU Exchanges, Faculty Led Programs, ISEP, CSU IP, and independent programs, SDSU students can take advantage of the following opportunities: (If you’re not sure of the differences between the programs mentioned above, please see the Programs Overview link on the left!)
- Travel/Study and Language Immersion Programs are also offered through SDSU's College of Extended Studies.
- Many study abroad opportunities are open to SDSU students through other universities in the CSU system. Visit the other CSU schools’ web sites to learn more!
- Students interested in earning lower division credit abroad may participate in study abroad programs run through local Community Colleges.
